Below is a step by step guide to making a nursing binder

1. Choose a binder with a comfortable size

Choosing between the right sizes of binders is a tough decision, there are several factors to consider before getting a binder, and it doesn’t have to be fancy, but it should be large enough to hold your important documents, the sizes vary a lot starting from the 1 inch ones to the 7/8 inches, but 2-4 inches is probably the best choice among them. 2-4 inches are convenient and easy to carry. If you chose between 1-2 inches, you can carry multiple binders at once, one for each class.
You can buy the small binders for the classes and the big binders for home.

2. Buy a binder that is easy to customize

While there are fancy already customized binders out there for sale, but customizing the binder yourself will feel more personal. Before buying a binder always check if it has a customizable back or front. If the binder is customizable, you can make it however you want, you can customize it to match your favorite TV series or your favorite band, and it could be even based on nursing!

You can even make it transparent and slip your class schedule at front so that youโ€™re constantly reminded of your classes or exams or lab reports. Or if youโ€™re into aesthetics then you put some aesthetic scenery or even your favorite quotes to keep you motivated all the time!

3. Make several sections in the binder

Ok so this is the most important part of the continuous steps that we are following.
This is where your organizational skill will come in handy.
You can divide the binder in various ways, you can either divide it by class schedules, like if you have five classes then divide it by five sections, one for each class or you could it divide it by class/exam/assignment; you can use one section for classes, one section for your exam schedule (point to be noted โ€“ nursing school has always exams going whether its weekly or monthly so binder or a binder section for it is extremely important),

you can keep another section for the assignments and lab reports, in this way you can keep in check of your to-do list or remaining work. Now that you know how you should sections, now comes what materials you should use to separate them, you can use transparent cover or color coded covers; transparent covers are easy it locate what you need, you can highlight or mark or label each section according to your allocation of files.

4. Keep track of your notes

If you donโ€™t organize it well enough, it is easy to lose your notes or papers in times of need; you can easily lose track of everything so always make a list of mini content list in the front of each section, for example the first section has your assignments and lab reports so what you can do is make a content list accordingly which lab report comes after which one and after what number of lab reports the assignment papers starts,

instead of marking all the content just make a mini list of it in front of the section, that will be much convenient and easier to find what you need. This trick will also help you filter unwanted or completed task and remove them accordingly.

5. Attach a binder pouch

A binder pouch is a transparent plastic which you can use to keep your other important supplies, like pens, highlighters, scale, calculator etc. The plastic is durable so nothing will fall off easily. A binder pouch can be attached to the binder whether in front or back depending on which way you feel more convenient.

The weight limit should be up to several calculators, unnecessary stuff can lead to a messy pouch.
Apart from the transparent ones, you can also use customized ones as well, there are pre-designs available in binder sites or you can use your own creativity and customize something for yourself.

6. Use binder lock

This would be the last step towards creating a perfect nursing binder, if you have confidential files in the binder, always use a binder lock!
Keeping the binder locked will keep it safe from unwanted hands; no one will be able to open it except you, that is of course unless it gets stolen.

As most of the times lab reports or assignments are unique and every individual has different ways in the assignment so there is a possibility of your assignment or report to go missing, so if you want to keep it safe, use binder lock.
Binder locks are available in any binder shop, pick one that suits you.

A well-organized binder can help you get through complicated notes and papers in a very conventional way, as exam pressure comes close, it is safe to keep everything organized and save time and be more efficient!
Also it is safe to keep multiple binders at once, donโ€™t cluster everything into one binder, it could become a mess; so take your time and create the perfect binders for you!
