On an average about 20 thousand people die from cancer each day! Sounds shocking? Well, it is, Only just in the US, about 1620 people die from cancer each day which is about 8.1% of the whole world. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US, just behind heart disease. Too many, cancer seems like an unlikely and rare disease but in reality there is a whole different scenario.
In general, when cancer reaches a certain stage, it becomes incurable. No amount of medication then is enough to completely cure it; death becomes inevitable unless something miraculous happens, then again that is one in a million.
If you or the person suffering from cancer belongs to a religious or pious family, and if you truly believe that God is with you and has the power to heal you from inside then you or your family will evidently rely on prayers as last hope.

Give or Life
Lord, my eternal relationship with You began from the moment I first believed. I don’t need to work for it, and I don’t need to hope it will come to pass someday. My life in You is a done deal. It is not based on my feelings, my struggles, or even this cancer. I have life only because I have You! In You, I live and move and have my very existence. Thank You for Your assurance that I am Your child and You will never leave or forsake me. Help me to comprehend what this new life in You actually means, through good times and bad, in health and in sickness. Thank You, Lord, the Giver of Life!
Renew My Mind, Body and Soul
Lord, I come before you today in need of your healing hand.
In you all things are possible. Hold my heart within yours, and renew my mind, body, and soul.
I am lost, but I come to you with grace.
You gave us life, and you also give us the gift of infinite joy.
Give me the strength to move forward on the path you’ve laid out for me.
Guide me towards better health, and give me the wisdom to identify those you’ve placed around me to help me get better.

To Heal a Friend
Think, o God, of our friend who is ill, whom we now commend to Your compassionate regard.
Comfort him upon his sickbed, and ease his suffering. We beg for deliverance, and submit
That no healing is too hard for the Lord, if it be His will.
We, therefore, pray that You bless our friend with Your loving care, renew his strength, and heal what ails him in Your loving name. Thank You, Lord.
A Prayer Against Disease
Lord, Your scripture says that you heal all diseases and whoever believes in You will not perish but have everlasting life. Strengthen me, Lord, in this time of illness. Sustain him as he lays sick in his bed. When You were on Earth, you did all things good and healed all kinds of sickness.
You healed those who had diseases. You died and rose for our sins and that we may have eternal life, Lord. I believe in my heart that You are here with us today and that with Your most holy power will remove all sicknesses and evils that roam the earth. Let it be done in Your glory, Lord.

By Faith Alone
God, You had a simple plan to save me. Thank You that my faith alone makes me right in Your sight!
Unlike all other religions, I don’t have to do anything to earn my salvation.
Help me to accept and believe that this cancer is not the result of my not doing enough to be a good person, or falling short of Your standard. My relationship is made right with You from start to finish, only by believing and trusting in You. Thank You that I am made righteous by faith alone. Thank You for coming to save me.
A Traditional Episcopal prayer
Following this exhortation from the letter of James, it may also be appropriate to ask the leaders of your church to anoint you (or whoever it is that is suffering from cancer) with oil and lay hands on you. Here is an Episcopal prayer for the laying on of hands and healing:-
N., I lay my hands upon you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, beseeching our Lord Jesus Christ to sustain you with his presence, to drive away all sickness of body and spirit, and to give you that victory of life and peace which will enable you to serve him both now and evermore. Lord, Your Word is the true medicine that heals. It is the source of my hope and my every breath. Help me to listen carefully and never lose sight of Your Word through the distractions of the world.
Lord, I want Your word to penetrate the depths of my heart. I want to live by Your word and receive all the benefits of knowing You. Thank You that Your word brings life and healing to my whole body.

A Prayer to Ease Pain
Almighty Father, Thank you for your love, grace and mercy. I pray that my discomforts will turn to comforts, my pains to gains, my deprivation to more blessings, my losses to profits, my tear to smiles, my sorrows to pleasures, my illness to wellness, my debts to credits and my dreams to realities.

Prayer for Doctor’s Wisdom
Dear Lord, Guide my doctor’s hands and give him wisdom.
Show him the way and help him to heal me.
I put my faith in you and the medical professionals that you have brought to me.
Compassion for Those in Pain
You know I am weak, Father. My body aches, my pain is excruciating, and my bones are in agony. How long must I wait for You to heal and restore me? Yet, You are holy. Have compassion on me, Lord. Comfort me in this affliction! You are the God who heals all my diseases. Please take this pain away. Heal me, Lord! Make me whole again.
